Healing With Water: 4 Reasons Why Your Tap And Bottled Water Are Dangerous To Drink
Healing With Water: Why Your Tap And Bottled Water Are Dangerous To Drink
Healing With Water Overview
Healing with Water – water is necessary for all life, but not all H20 is the same for healing. It’s essential to know the dangers of tap water and bottled water that many consume daily. The water that comes from your faucet and your children’s school’s fountains can contain several dangerous contaminants. Additionally, many bottled water companies source their water from tap water. Whether bottled water or tap water, the toxic chemicals have been and are found in both – making them essentially dead water as opposed to being living water.
There are different types of water currently being sold and each is being hyped as the next best thing. It can get confusing very quickly when we try to decide on the best water for optimal health. You might be thinking, “water is water, what’s the big deal?” The problem is that all the water out there is not created equal, and most of the water out there being consumed is what I called ‘Dead Water.’ I call it dead water because there is no nutritional value because of all the chemicals and toxins in it.
Did you know that global water sales have exceeded soda sales since 2016 because it is being promoted as a healthier alternative? Yet, there is still an increase in chronic dehydration. In this article, we will discuss the symptoms of dehydration, the different types of water, the dangers of tap and bottled water, and the need for water filtration and healing with water.
Dehydration And Symptoms
There is a growing case of chronic dehydration but many are not aware that they suffer from this epidemic and worst, are not aware of the symptoms of dehydration. The most common and obvious signs of dehydration are thirst, dark urine, and dry skin – no amount of cosmetics can reverse and heal your dry skin like healing with water.
There are some easily overlooked symptoms of dehydration of which you may not be aware:
- High cholesterol
- Weight gain
- Urinary tract infections
- Autoimmune diseases (for example, multiple sclerosis and chronic fatigue syndrome)
- Digestive disturbances (for example, constipation, heartburn, etc.)
- Premature aging
These are just a few of the symptoms of which you need to be aware.
Types Of Water
If you browse most grocery stores today, you will find various types of water. The average person has more to choose from than ordinary tap and bottled water. Let’s briefly examine some of the most popular water types to help you make an informed decision. The type of water you choose to drink will have a significant impact on your health.
Tap Water
Most people drink tap water because it is easy to get and it’s convenient. The problem is that the tap water from our faucet is polluted with many contaminants that have the potential to cause serious health problems. Here are a few tap water contaminants:
Fluoride – Fluoride is not a cavity fighter. Fluoride is a well-known toxin that can increase your risk of cavities and can cause a wide range of health problems that includes the weakening of your immune system and damaging your cells resulting in accelerated aging. The use of fluoride in drinking water is probably the greatest deception of all time. Think about it – they put a black label warning on your toothpaste
and asked you to call a poison control center if accidentally swallowed, but it’s ok to drink?
Prescription and OTC Drugs – The hard truth is that we have been told to not flush prescription drugs in the toilet but many still do. Even if you dispose of your unused prescription and OTC drugs in the trash, those eventually end up “drinking” water. Water that drains through landfills often leeches into a city’s water supply. As a result, drugs that shouldn’t be mixed are mixed in the drinking water you consume every day. Does your state, city, or country source its drinking water from rivers? Lakes? You may be at risk if you are drinking tap water.
Aluminum and disinfection Byproduct11 – The aluminum found in the municipal water supply can cause health problems including liver disease, skin problems, learning disabilities in children, and there have even been links to Parkinson’s disease and risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Most municipal waters are treated with Disinfection Byproducts such as chlorine. Some of the chemicals used for disinfection carcinogens (they have the potential to cause cancer) and also linked to other health problems in the nervous system, kidney, and liver. Is that healing with water?
Bottled Water
A lot of people opt for bottled water because they believe it is healthier than tap water. For others, it’s simply a matter of convenience. As mentioned before, a lot of the bottled water that people consume is actually TAP WATER! That’s Right. About 40-50% of bottled water is TAP WATER. The difference here is that some of this tap/bottled water may have been filtered before being bottled.
Additionally, an independent test performed by the Environmental Working Group9 found that some of the toxins found in tap water and 36 other harmful pollutants are hidden in bottled water. One synthetic chemical that plastic water bottles contain is Bisphenol A (BPA), which have been linked to learning and behavioral problems, prostate and breast cancer, obesity, early onset of puberty in both male and females, and many more. You can read more about this and other toxic chemicals here. Bottled water may actually be more dangerous for you. Again, is that healing with water?
Alkaline (Ionized) and Distilled Water
Both of these waters should not be used long term but for short-term detoxification purposes only because they can help pull toxins from the body.
It’s true. Some people indeed experience an initial high when they consume alkaline water, and it is believed that this is because of detoxification. Those who consume alkaline water long term can actually “weaken” their stomach acid, interfering in the natural digestive process of breaking down food. Additionally, those with gastric dysfunctions may experience exacerbated health problems.
Distilled water is made by boiling water until it evaporates from its dissolved minerals. When this happens, the water becomes acidic and draws minerals from the body when used long-term. Also, if there are contaminants with lower evaporation temperatures in the water before it is boiled, those contaminants will be concentrated and condensed in the finished product, making it just as bad as tap water. If bottled in plastic bottles, the above information about bottled water applies. Although there are short-term benefits, this also is not healing with water.
Vitamin Water
I have to admit that this one is just a great marketing scheme to sell soda as a healthy product. Vitamin water is worse than all the above because it is bottled in plastic, uses distilled water, contains high fructose corn syrup, synthetic and “natural” preservatives, synthetic and “natural” colors, synthetic vitamins (if any), and other additives. I can’t think of any nutritional value for vitamin water. I have a saying that anything that is not nutritious to the body is toxic to the body. In other words, because it is not nutrition, it is a bottled toxin (in my humble opinion). This is definitely not healing with water.
Other Dangers In Tap And Bottled Water
In addition to the above-mentioned bottled and tap water, the following are additional dangers to consider before consuming bottled and tap water. All the above would be considered “DEAD WATER”. What you want to drink is “Living Water.”
Is There Lead in Your Tap Water?
Your using living water for detox and healing, so it’s vital to know if it’s safe. Lead is a serious toxin that can damage your kidneys and brain if you ingest too much. It’s most dangerous for babies, young children, and pregnant women who can experience reduced learning capacity and lower IQs1 than people not exposed to lead.
Older plumbing systems use lead pipes, and many small towns and large cities still have areas with these materials. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states2,
“The most common sources of lead in drinking water are lead pipes, faucets, and plumbing fixtures. Certain pipes that carry drinking water from the water source to the home may contain lead. Household plumbing fixtures, welding solder, and pipe fittings made prior to 1986 may also contain lead.”
It’s about more than lead.
Erik Olson, director of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) Health Program, explains3,
“Flint was a wake-up call for Americans, but it’s not the only place in the United States with tap water problems … Thousands of other cities and small towns across the country are serving water with lead or other contamination problems to millions of people.”
Arsenic10 is Seeping into Drinking Water Supplies
Arsenic is deadly, and it’s one more of the dangers of tap water. It’s also a naturally occurring substance that can dissolve into groundwater. Bottled water automatically filters these contaminants out and tests for purity before it’s sold to the public.
The only way to remove arsenic4 from drinking water is through a filtration process. You won’t always get that fast response and safety check with tap water. Arsenic can cause cancer in high enough concentrations, which could cause a problem for using living water for detox and your body’s healing with water.
Radioactive Chemicals Can Leach into Your Ground Water
The government’s been aware of radioactive chemicals leaching and studying its effects on the environment and people since the 1970s5. High doses of radiation or low doses over a long period can cause cancer. A study between 2010 and 2015 found more than 170 million Americans were drinking water with dangerous radiation levels6. The chemicals enter the water naturally and through leaching from contaminated soil.
Additional research funded by the Park Foundation7 found 22 contaminants with the potential to increase cancer risk in 48,363 community water systems throughout the U.S. EWG used this information to determine four out of every 10,000 people will develop cancer from water contamination.
Old Copper Pipes Are Contaminating Drinking Water
One of the primary causes of contamination is pipe corrosion. Copper is a naturally occurring mineral and a common material used for piping. Some copper in your diet is safe. Too much is dangerous8. Like arsenic, you can’t remove copper by boiling it. It’s essential to go through a filtration process. The only way to know if your water is safe from copper is by choosing filtered H2O.
Filtration For Optimal Healing With Water
Perhaps the first step in healing with water is to purchase and install water filters throughout your home. Making such a purchase can actually be economically and environmentally sound which can lead to excellent health benefits. You should always filter the water used throughout your house, from the kitchen sink to the shower. The filtration system that you use in your home should offer a variety of methods to remove different contaminants such as organic, inorganic, cyst, sediments, and metals. I have three recommendations to help you.
Carbon Filters (Two Type – Granular and Block)
Carbon filters are probably the most popular filters out there and are effective in removing contaminants from water. Granular carbon filters are effective in removing organic chemicals such as pesticides, industrial chemicals, and herbicides. Granular carbon filters are also recognized by the EPA. Block carbon filters are said to be superior and remove a higher range of contaminants from your water.
Reverse Osmosis Filters
The reverse osmosis filter is effective in removing chlorine, organic and inorganic contaminants, and approximately 80% of fluorine. The reverse osmosis is also effective in removing most disinfection byproducts (see above) from your water. Reverse Osmosis Filters do have one drawback and that is, you will likely need a plumber to install them. However, I have found a countertop reverse osmosis filter that is just as effective and does not require a plumber to set up.
Ion Exchange Filters
These filters are probably not as well known as the others above but are effective in neutralizing the harmful effects of scale build-up in your home. The ion exchange filter removes dissolved salts (think calcium or scale build-up in your shower) from your water and softens your hard water. However, these filters do not remove most of the contaminants mentioned above. It is recommended that the ion exchange filters are used in combination with the carbon filters to get the best and safest water for household use.
Final Thoughts
The dangers of tap water are clear. And it’s not just the water from cities and town supplies. It may also be in your well water.
You don’t want to expose your family to these potential risks. For true healing with water, it’s essential to filter and bottle your water in glass bottles and add natural trace minerals for optimal health. Although the H2O you purchase from a company goes through multiple filtering processes and testing to ensure it’s safe, many are bottled in plastic containers that may leech into the water.
Make sure you are drinking Living Water. Living water that is for healing is neither alkaline nor acidic but neutral. It must be between 6.5 and 7.5 on the pH scale. A good rule of thumb is to drink enough water to turn your urine light-colored yellow. After filtering your water, you can also add trace minerals electrolytes for optimal health.
In our household, we invested in a whole house carbon filter, fluorine filter, and ion exchange filter. We also have a countertop reverse osmosis filter for our drinking water, and we add trace minerals back into the water to making it living water. Now, that is healing with water.
